Agreement on mutual cooperation between Tax Administrations of the region

Representatives of the Tax Administrations of Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina signed the Ageement on mutual cooperation in Belgrade on Thursday, March 17th 2011, with aim of improving data exchange, preventing tax evasion and reducing grey economy. The Agreement was signed by the Director of the Tax Administration of Montenegro Mr Dejan Marinović, Director of the Tax Administration of Serbia Mr. Dragutin Radosavljević, Director of the Tax Administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Midhat Arifović, acting Director of the Indirect taxation authority of Bosia and Herzegovina Mr. Miro Džakula, acting Director of the Tax Administration of the Republic of Srpska Mr. Mile Banika and Director of the Tax Administration of Slovenia Ms. Mojca Centa Debeljak.
As it was announced at the press release organized upon ratification of the Agreement, this document determined future cooperation in the field of data exchange, training, education and good practice that these authorities have and are to echange, in order to improve the quality of work for the benefit of citizens and economies of the region.
Article 2 of the Agreement among other envisages that the mutual cooperation should be organised in the form of meetings, seminars and technical consultations between the signatories.
The Agreement will enable the prevention of grey economy and tax evasion, representing the major problems of all countries in the region, as no tax authority can work on its own in the time of globalisation, when cooperation on all levels is crucial.
This form of cooperation was welcomed by the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA).
Representatives of the Tax Administrations of the region were pleased to sign this Agreement, considering it a good foundation for future cooperation and data exchange, which will help these tax authorities in the fight against individual and organized crime and tax offences.
