The Large Taxpayers Office was established in line with the Rulebook on internal organisation and systematisation of the Tax Administration of Montenegro. The LTO’s primary objective has been to promote efficient tax administration and to achieve compliance at minimum costs, both for taxpayers and the Montenegrin Tax Administration.

Tax Administration of Montenegro issues a public call and reminds taxpayers on the option of flat-rate taxation, pursuant to Article 49 of the Law on personal income tax and Article 7 of the Rulebook on flat-rate taxation of self-employment income.

The campaign „VAT is your money“ was initiated for raising awareness of the importance of citizens’ cooperation for creation of a fair tax system, why they were invited to declare all irregularities in business operation of noncompliant taxpayers to the MTA Call Center via the free line 19707, in written form or visiting the Tax Administration premises.

The Tax Administration of Slovenia was hosted a meeting of the B6 Group on October 5 2011, while on October 6 - 7 2011 at the premises of the Center of Excellence in Finance of the Republic of Slovenia organised the Conference for Senior Tax Officials from South East Europe.

The 15th General Assembly of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA) was organized and hosted by the General Directorate of Public Finance of France and held in Nice on 7 – 8 July 2011. It was attended by over 160 delegates from Member Tax Administrations, French Government, European Union, OECD, IMF and other representatives of international organizations, tax practitioners and researchers.

In line with the Agenda for precisely planned activities, the Tax Administration, apart from regular monthly collection tasks, also carries out the collection of tax arrears.
During MAY 2011 the Tax Administration earned income in the amount of 6.185.488,00 € for the State Budget, collecting the "delinquent debt".

On Tuesday, May 31 2011, the Tax Administration organized a lecture for III and IV year students of the Faculty of Business Management. The lecture was organized as a result of the agreement reached between the MTA and this Faculty and as a part of the traditional mutual cooperation.
In duration of 4 classes, the lecture was held by MTA representatives presented the organisational structure (Gordana Stajčić - Headquarters) and work system of the Regional Office Bar and the branch office Ulcinj (Zorica Tomić - Head of the Regional Office). Radio Bar covered the lecture.

In line with current legislation, taxpayers are obliged to submit VAT returns (PR PDV 2) and monthly reports on excise for alcohol and alcoholic beverages (OAKC-AL), tobacco products (OAKC-DP) and mineral oils, their derivatives and substrata (OAKC-MU) by the 15th of the following month.
If a taxpayer does not comply with the legal deadline, the Tax Administration makes interventions for provision of these tax returns, including delivery of written notifications and reminders by telephone, and in some cases even personal delivery of notices to taxpayers.

Within activities of the Council for Regulatory Reform and Improvement of Business Environment, preconditions for establishment of the one stop shop system for registration of companies within the Central Registry of the Commercial Court (CRPS) have been created.
As of today, May 20 2011, new business organisations will be able to register a company, apply for general tax registration, obtain VAT, excise and customs number in one place. In that way they will not have to visit counters in several different institutions, what will save their time and money.
While until now registration was possible only in the Central Registry of the Commercial Court, in the following period, upon realisation of planned activities, registration of companies in 8 regional offices of the Tax Administration will be enabled.

16.05.2011, Podgorica – Representatives of the MTA (Montenegrin Tax Administration) and MEF (Montenegrin Employers Federation) met on the premises of the MEF, for analysing the economic conditions and agreeing on continuation of the cooperation and realisation of future common activities.
Assessing the previous cooperation as very successful, participants noted that the natural connection between the MEF and MTA requires further strengthening of the partnership, especially with reference to current economic conditions. It was pointed out that difficult business operation indicates the need for intensifying of the work of the MEF & MTA Steering Committee, for timely detection of problems, identification of ambiguities and dilemmas and professional interpretation to help efficient and practical application of tax legislation in employers practice.
